Committees- Volunteer Opportunities

MEMBERSHIP & BENEFITS COMMITTEE

Shall oversee the application and review procedures for initial and renewal Memberships. It may research and advise the Board of Directors on Membership trends, retention & renewal rates, and benefits & programs to increase Membership. The President shall appoint the chair of the Membership & Benefits Committee. This Committee has no governing authority. It may only make recommendations to the Board of Directors.
• Monthly dinner front desk welcome committee
• New member ambassadors – make introductions
• New member orientation – promote and attend
• Update member database – filter expired members and business representatives
• Retention of existing members – level of engagement & association satisfaction

 

 

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

Shall consider, establish, manage, and promote all educational courses, seminars, and presentations, including NAHB designation courses. Additionally, this Committee shall coordinate, assist, and conduct joint activities with all relevant educational institutions and
relevant government and community programs located within Barnstable & Dukes Counties. The Committee is responsible for the forming, maintaining, and growing NAHB sanctioned Student Chapters to foster a strong relationship between them and the Association. The Committee shall be responsible for education, and the dissemination of information to the public, press and appointed & elected officials and shall coordinate with the Marketing & Communications Committee. The President shall appoint the chair of the Education Committee. This Committee has no governing authority. It may only make recommendations to the Board of Directors.

 

BUILDING CODE & STANDARDS COMMITTEE

The goal of the Building Code Compliance Committee is to ultimately streamline the permitting process, and ensure members understand safety and compliance standards instilling confidence in clients that they prioritize safety and professionalism in their
work, achieved by:

· Providing education on evolving regulations and
best practices while ensuring that all members remain informed and compliant
with local building codes.

· Facilitating regular discussions internally and
with local building inspectors to address common challenges faced by builders
and remodelers, ultimately leading to more efficient project execution and
reduced liability risks.

 

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

Shall determine and promote the ASSOCIATION’S position on political issues and candidates for elected office. This Committee controls the ASSOCIATION 'S Industry Action Fund and exclusively determines the raising and use of its funds without oversight from any other body. The President shall appoint the chair of the Government Affairs Committee. The Committee has no governing authority. It may only make recommendations to the Board of Directors.
• Attend HBRAMA meetings
• Update the board/membership on State Agendas and how we can help on a local level
• Update on important and relevant town meetings
• Promote open positions for serving on town boards

 

FINANCE COMMITTEE

The finance committee reviews the financials on a monthly basis, providing subcommittee support to the Board of Directors, as well as providing input on the annual budget.

 

EVENTS COMMITTEE

Shall plan events and set goals for successful attendance and financial outcomes. Volunteer time and talent in putting on the events. Help with solicitation of donations for events and drawings. This Committee has no governing authority. It may only make recommendations to the Board of Directors.

 

 

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

Shall handle communications to the targeted audiences of the organization
• Website design & content
• Social Media
• Media kits for Members
• Promote current events
• Public awareness and outreach
